With randomized perks and different archetypes, there are always going to be guns that stand out above the competition. The PvE meta forms from these powerful firearms, and if you want the best DPS you’ll need to use them. With Lightfall 2 on the horizon we cave compiled a list of these Destiny 2 meta weapons so you can get your hands on them and be ready to tackle The Witness.
MEta Weapons
Riptide
The Riptide makes an unsurprising appearance on this list with it being one of the best non-Exotic utility weapons in Destiny 2. Crucially, this Fusion Rifle gets access to Chill Clip which is still good for stunning Unstoppable Champions even after the hefty nerf it received in Season 22.
God Roll: Arrowhead Brake + Accelerated Coils/Enhanced Battery + Auto-Loading Holster + Chill Clip
Ammit AR2
With Solar builds in such a strong place right now there’s a lot of demand for good Solar Primary weapons. Given this, it’s no surprise to see Ammit AR2 rise to prominence with the reliable Auto Rifle being a mainstay in the meta for some time thanks to its great all-round performance.
God Roll: Arrowhead Brake + Armor-Piercing Rounds + Dynamic Sway Reduction/Triple Tap + Incandescent
Quicksilver Storm
Quicksilver Storm is still the best Exotic weapon introduced in Lightfall. This Strand Auto Rifle not only has 100 Stability making it extremely accurate but also an alternate fire grenade launcher that offers Special ammo damage potential without having to consume any ammo.
God Roll: Curated Roll
Avalanche
Destiny’s Machine Gun meta doesn’t change all that often so it’s nice to see a new contender, Avalanche. This Dawning event exclusive drop offers both incredible add clear thanks to Subsistence + Incandescent or solid boss damage with Rewind Rounds + Target Lock.
God Roll: Arrowhead Brake + Appended Mag + Rewind Rounds/Subsistence + Target Lock/Incandescent
Wish Ender
As Primary ammo weapons go they don’t get much better than Wish-Ender. This powerhouse Exotic has remained a meta option for several months now and doesn’t look to be going anywhere anytime soon. It deals unbelievable damage, stuns Barrier Champions, and is easy enough to use.
God Roll: Curated Roll
Scatter Signal
Scatter Signal is one of the very few guns to get access to Slice, a new Strand-focused perk that makes severing targets much more consistent. This combined with classic meta Fusion Rifle perks like Overflow, Enlightened Action, and Controlled Burst makes this a strong option on all kinds of builds.
God Roll: Arrowhead Brake + Accelerated Coils + Slice/Overflow/Enlightened Action + Controlled Burst
Apex Predator
If you need a legendary Rocket Launcher there is no better option than Apex Predator. A couple of the other top-tier RPGs may marginally outdamage it these days but this Solar weapon’s ease of use and unmatched consistency ensure that Apex Predator is still the best Heavy PvE weapon for many Destiny 2 players.
God Roll: Quick Launch + Impact Casing + Reconstruction + Bait and Switch
Polaris Lance
No weapon has benefited more from the seasonal artifact than Polaris Lance. With the artifact and a suitable Solar build not only can this Exotic Scout Rifle now inflict Scorch via The Perfect Fifth in just one proc, but it can also stun two different types of champions: Barrier and Unstoppable.
God Roll: Curated Roll
Sunshot
Holy Hand Cannon buff. When Bungie made Destiny’s most iconic gun type stronger in PvE they couldn’t even begin to imagine what the result would be. Sunshot has reached unprecedented levels with it becoming one of the best Solar weapons in Destiny 2 PvE. Be sure to give this a try if you haven’t already.
God Roll: Curated Roll
Dragon’s Breath
As with all seasonal Exotics, Dragon’s Breath’s usage rate is a little inflated but don’t let that mislead you into thinking this Rocket Launcher is overhyped Not only is it an unbelievable DPS weapon, but Dragon’s Breath is also an extremely rare case of a Heavy weapon being worthwhile to use for add clear. This is a true all-purpose Exotic.
